It has been believed in many cultures, western and eastern, including those of some aboriginal groups since
ancient times that the universe is filled with energy which may rejuvenate cells in plants and animals; in turn,
these energized cells make the plants and animals full of new life. This theory has been accepted by many
scientists and people in the medical field.
Through friends' recommendation, my wife and I attend a seminar in Vancouver given by Compassionate Energy
Society in June, 2009. According to the Society's website, the cosmic energy can go through human body, and
be used as a means to promote health; everybody is in need and capable of receiving this energy, as the
cosmic energy is compassionate, loving, just, and impartial. It claims as long as you have a loving heart and
compassion, you are able to be amalgamated with it.
The website also elucidates that the Society is a non-profit organization with a mandate to teach people how
to utilize this invaluable energy to help themselves as well as others in order to supplement the medicare
system, promote holistic health, reduce healthcare cost, and to enhance social harmony.
The founders of Compassionate Energy Society are a husband and wife team from Taiwan. The lectures were
given by Ms. Tsai (Mrs. Cheng) assisted by her husband, Mr. Cheng. The first three days of the six-day
beginners' class saw Ms. Tsai systematically and expertly explaining the details of human anatomical structures
and their functions as well as those of the seven chakras in human bodies. These helped us understand how
the principles of energy transfer work. The remaining three days was time for us to learn the techniques on how
to apply energy transfer and to practice among ourselves what we had learned.
Our questions were also satisfactorily answered by Ms. Tsai. In addition, Mr. Cheng helped us rotate our chakras
to make it easy for the cosmic energy to go through our bodies, when combined with meditation.
Ms. Tsai wanted us to pay attention to even seemingly minor health problems we may have, lest they became
serious issues. She felt the techniques of energy transfer and traditional western medicine complemented each
other, unlike some other schools that reject western medicine entirely. She also dismissed "idolization",
saying the person applying the techniques was simply channeling the cosmic energy to the recipients.
Instead of mystifying the techniques or trying to add religious flavours into the principle, Ms. Tsai emphasized
the importance of meditation, purifying oneself, and having the will to do good deeds in order to benefit both
oneself and others.
The seminar has benefited my wife and me tremendously as it has enabled us to learn something new and
invaluable. We also understand now that the traditional and alternative medicines work well together.
However, as Ms. Tsai advised, we have to keep on practicing so that what we have learned will truly benefit
ourselves as well as others.
